Plein air

Painting en plein air — directly outdoors, in the open air — is one of the oldest and most alive traditions in art. There is no photography, no digital reference, no studio artifice. Only the artist, the panel, and the world as it is at that precise moment.

Raz Seri's plein air practice takes him across New England coastlines, the Italian countryside, and the landscapes of Israel. Working rapidly in oil on small wooden panels, he pursues the fleeting qualities that can never be reproduced in the studio — the specific colour of afternoon light, the movement of water, the first chill of an autumn morning.

These intimate works are painted in a single session and carry an immediacy and freshness that larger studio works rarely achieve. They are available as original works and make deeply personal additions to any collection.
